Grief Gathering – A Ministry of Compassion and Presence

Grief Gathering is a twice-monthly support group at St. Paul’s Church offering a gentle, welcoming space for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Whether the loss is recent or long ago, quiet or complicated, participants are invited to come as they are—without pressure to share or perform. The group is not therapy and is not religious in a doctrinal sense, but it is deeply spiritual in its care, honesty, and community. Meetings are grounded in compassionate listening, quiet reflection, and shared understanding.

The group is co-led by Marlene Chaff and Rev. Steven Sousa and meets in the Peach Parlour on the first and third Mondays of each month at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome, regardless of background, belief, or affiliation. Sessions include optional themes, readings, and meditative practices, and often close with words of comfort or blessing. Grief Gathering is a space to simply be—with others who understand that grief has no timeline and no script, only the need to be held with kindness.
